This is a Permanent, Full Time vacancy that will close in {x} days at {xx:xx} BST.

We are currently looking for individuals experienced in the efficient processing of new business and renewals to come and join our Marine Programmes team as an Account Handler.

Key Responsibilities:

Managing Resources:

  • Managing own workload and time, to maximise efficiency and ensure that deadlines and targets are met
  • Establishing and building channels of communication with technical colleagues, brokers and accounts team
  • Seeking out and utilising knowledge and expertise, within own division

Relationship Management:

  • Developing and maintaining relationships with peers, senior management and colleagues both within own Division and across Price Forbes
  • Developing relationships with underwriters, adjusters, attorneys, clients, and industry peers
  • Participating in regular team discussions/updates

Business Operations:

  • Producing documentation including cover notes, debit notes, slips, letters and correspondence
  • Setting up files ensuring all relevant documentation included
  • Entering data onto Global system
  • Checking slips for inconsistencies
  • Chasing and monitoring premiums under terms of trade through liaison with Finance team
  • Liaising with clients to request information and chasing clients for outstanding funds
  • Obtaining wording signings
  • Diarising, tracking and chasing subjectivities, surveys and application forms
  • Dealing with queries from Brokers and clients and escalating where appropriate to ensure timely resolution
  • Compiling and monitoring premium warranties
  • Acting as point of contact for specific accounts
  • Following instructions from Senior Technician/Technical Manager accurately and efficiently
  • Developing an understanding and awareness of Group processes and procedures and working within the parameters of the role
  • Developing an awareness of the FSA Guidelines and rules
  • Providing assistance to Senior Technicians/Technical Manager in their day-to-day tasks
  • Providing assistance to the Claims Manager should this be required
  • Undertaking general office administrative duties as and when required

Market Environment:

  • Developing awareness of market, industry and business classes through internal/external coaching and mentoring, reading files and appropriate articles/publications
  • Recording Continuous Professional Development (CPD)

Qualifications & Experience:

  • Knowledge and understanding of the general insurance market and principles
  • Knowledge and understanding of Worldwide Marine insurance business and markets
  • Knowledge and understanding of insurance accounting systems including clients, underwriters, third party and brokerage accounts
  • Understanding of London market structure, practices, processes and procedures including systems and relevant documentation
  • Knowledge and understanding of policy forms, profit commissions, adjustments, taxes, binding authorities and LMP slips
