The Vacancy

We are currently looking for an experienced Cargo Claims Advocate to handle claims from first advice to final settlement, working with clients, insureds, colleagues and markets to provide the  high level of service our clients and markets have come to expect.

The right individual will be a self-starter, problem solver and expected to work under their own initiative, whilst also having a deep understanding of the ethos of how Price Forbes Cargo does business.  

Key Responsibilities:

  • The successful candidate will be responsible for managing claims emanating from their own portfolio of accounts from first advice to final settlement.  This will include day to day management of a caseload, as well as buddying with colleagues on high profile and/or complex cases. 
  • Duties will include liaison with clients and advocacy of claims with underwriters, as well as coverage review, working closely with colleagues in the placing team (Cargo Claims is fully integrated into the wider Cargo Team) Excellent communication skills are required via all channels, especially face to face and on calls. An excellent level of written communication is also essential.  
  • This role involves travel to meet with clients throughout North America and Asia and the ability to manage this effectively is also important.
  • The candidate will be responsible for maintaining high standards of claims handling, service and communication at all times.  A key requirement will be excellent IT skills – as the business moves towards a much deeper data driven approach, a keen understanding of how systems operate and assist with integrating that into our new way of working.
  • An ability to be adaptable in approach and flexible in thinking is regarded as essential.

Qualifications & Experience:

Ideally 5 years plus in a similar role, i.e., in a broking/negotiating environment, however would consider variations upon that theme depending upon the applicant. Progress towards the CII qualifications welcomed but not essential at this point.

Person Specification:

A quick thinking and technically sound individual, capable of working under their own initiative, problem solving and using lateral thinking, whilst putting the client at the centre of their process at all times – “how will I solve this problem for my clients benefit?” Must be a team player of course, capable of being flexible in their approach and always willing to learn.  As PF continues to grow, the ability to network internally will be vital, as well as being able to manage complex and adversarial face to face negotiations, both in the London Market and across the world.
