Divisional Director- Downstream Energy, Power and Renewables Claims

Purpose of the Role:

To provide high quality leadership to the Downstream Energy, Power, and Renewables Claims team, and an expert-level claims service to all internal and external clients.

Key Role Accountabilities:

 

Main Responsibilities:

  • Management and control of complex Downstream Energy, Power and Renewable Energy claims.
  • Communicate regularly with clients to understand and meet their business requirements.
  • Personally provide outstanding service and technical advice, expediting and negotiating best claims settlements.
  • Enter claims advice and settlements on in-house, Lloyd’s and Company market systems such as Global XB, CLASS etc.
  • Contribute to business development with recommendations during marketing and renewal meetings.
  • Develop and foster relationships with clients to attract new business and retain existing clients.
  • Collate and produce ad hoc statistics and reports for insurers and clients.
  • Monitor and report legal and market developments to the Company to facilitate the prompt and professional handling of all claims.

 

Leadership/Management: 

  • This role involves the direct line-management duties for a team of six claims professionals.
  • This role will form part of the leadership team of the Energy claims department. As such, the role holder will work closely with the Head of Energy Claims to:
  • Develop a strong and realistic business plan, ensuring this is in line with the larger Divisional Plan.
  • Provide technical leadership and guidance to the team, particularly to junior colleagues.
  • Participate in regular energy claims leadership meetings and individual team meetings as needed.
  • Act as focal point for market intelligence.
  • Lead efforts to provide technical training to team members.

 

Qualifications & Experience:

  • Desirable - ACII qualified or relevant qualification.
  • Desirable depending on experience: strong university education in business, law, economics, or engineering.
  • 12+ years with a broker, insurer or loss adjuster handling complex Energy claims, or direct industry experience.
